Braces are the traditional tool used to help patients achieve a straighter smile. We offer two options for patients.
Metal braces consist of metal brackets, an archwire, and rubber bands. A bracket is bonded to the front of each tooth. The archwire fits into a groove in the brackets and is secured with a rubber band. Patients can choose the color or colors of the bands.
The reason Oxnard orthodontists use metal braces is that they’re extremely durable. We only choose metals that are biocompatible and hypoallergenic.
Another option for our patients is porcelain ceramic braces. These braces have the same components as metal ones, but the brackets are made of porcelain. The archwire is often still made of metal, though there is a clear option. Rubber bands can be multi-colored, clear, or white.
Though not as durable as metal braces, porcelain ceramic braces are surprisingly strong. Plus, many patients find them more aesthetically pleasing.
Our third orthodontic treatment option is clear aligners. Patients enjoy having this option because the aligners are virtually invisible. They’re also removable, so caring for your teeth is much easier.

Dr. Hamid received specialized orthodontics training at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine after earning his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Dentistry.
